     在多数西方人眼里，中国人有个很大的特点就是---吵(noisy)。特别是在大城市，人多车多，各种嘈杂刺耳之声不绝于耳。在公共场合，大声对话的两个人常常让老外误以为他们正在吵架。老Paul也说过，你们中国人每次吃饭都像过节一样。我还看过一篇文章叫---300 and 1 Reasons You Know You’ve Been in China Too Long，是说外国人在中国呆久了就会染上中国人的一些“特性”，这301个原因就是一条条的验证码，其中第二条就是: You're at an expensive western restaurant and don't even notice the guy at the next table yelling into his cell phone. （在一个高档西餐厅吃饭，你根本不会注意到旁边有人在扯着嗓子打电话）

 

     此外，去年美国《时代》杂志登了一篇有关中国年轻一代的文章－China’s Me Generation，作者在采访了几个年轻人的生活状态后，写下这样的文字: 当今中国城市的年轻人属于"...a generation for whom prosperity and personal freedom haven't required democracy……and you will find them drinking Starbucks, wearing Nikes and blogging obsessively. But you will detect little interest in demanding voting rights, let alone overthrowing the country's communist rulers." （大意为，喝星巴克，穿耐克鞋，写写博客，追求财富和自由，却不关心政治民主）。

 

     5月19日下午，我的一位老外同事在和我们一起经历了“默哀”之后，在论坛上贴了一篇感想。如同很多我认识的西方人一样，这个在我看来被西方主流媒体洗过脑的美国人也认为，中国（年轻）人"...are primarily interested in material gain and self-advancement" (享受物质财富，追求个人利益)。但是三分钟的默哀让他改变了对中国人的认知，这种noise和silence有中国特色的结合使他深受感动。("It was somehow very Chinese, with the uncanny combination of noise and silence…”) 在一大段罗里八索的煽情文字的最后他写下"...behind all the cultural differences, we're all fundamentally the same.”（剥去各种文化差异，我们，在本质上都是相同的）。看完之后，我小感动了一下。从Noisy Chinese到Silent Chinese的转变只需短短的三分钟，然而我始终感觉，这种转变在此刻固然真实，但却脆弱。当时间推移到一定长度之后，当地震不再成为我们关注的话题，当人们该干嘛都干嘛的时候，我们会不会依然是“Noisy Chinese”？借某人语，中国在可以向世界输出价值观之前，还有很长的路要走。

 

 

一。

手上戴着带了一个很简单的手链，小R每次看到都说：我帮你买个好的吧，这个看上去好cheap啊。

我对首饰这些东西本来就没这么讲究，于是不以为然，置之不理。

一天他说：我看到一个很漂亮的手链，我们有空去看看，你喜欢就买下来。

我说：哦，多少钱哪？

他说：一千块。

我说：那你还不如请我吃10顿100块钱的大餐。

他说：那这一千块钱不是都变成屎拉～～～!!!

 

二。

汶川地震。昨晚一边刷新网页，一边看CCTV新闻。直到零点已过，关灯睡觉。

两人无语片刻。突然他问：如果现在地震怎么办？

我还在思考要带什么东西的时候，他继续并严肃的说：我们不要跑了，就这样被埋在一起吧。

我顿感一阵眩晕，多么哥特的浪漫啊!

 

三。

自哈利帕于四月下旬离开上海，吾国发生了这么多事，一一写下来告之。

期间搜了一些数据和图片，心中难免又一阵激动和忧愁。
